Sorry, I know that you guys get these all the time, but I have seriously been trying to find out and can't without the experts, that's you guys. Alright, I have one of 'those' ar-15's and m-4's both of which are post ban era carbines. Now, how in the world am I able to get that stupid a$$ compensator off of the danged barrel. You might call it a 'muzzle break'? But, I'm a Marine and we call it a 'compensator' I want to be able to get the stupid thing off so that I can slap something else on there. Please, any help at all would be great, even if I HAVE TOO! I will go to a gunsmith to get it done, even though I'd love to just do it myself. Again, ANY help you can give me would be great. How can I tell if the break is pinned and or welded. It does not look like it is because I can not see a pin or any welds anywhere near the flash hinder, but I would like to be sure before I try to remove it. http://www.bushmaster.com/faqs/?f=2549Tue, 29 Jun 2010 00:00:00 GMTFAQ # 2466 : AFTER REMOVAL OF PERMENENTLY INSTALLED FLASH HIDER HOW IS NEW INSTALATION MADE PERMENANThttp://www.bushmaster.com/faqs/?f=2466Mon, 17 May 2010 00:00:00 GMTFAQ # 2437 : Good Day- I have a XM15-E2 with a 16" shorty barrel. I am looking for a flash suppressor and am wondering which will work with this model. The barrel does not have external threads as required on some suppressors. The end of the barrel is slightly narrower than the rest of the barrel. I am unsure if a suppressor for this just slides over the barrel and is held by friction or if it needs to be secured by a locking screw etc. Thank you for your assistancehttp://www.bushmaster.com/faqs/?f=2437Sat, 01 May 2010 00:00:00 GMTFAQ # 2432 : I have a Bushmaster model # xm15-e2s, that I purchased new in Florida in 2008. Is this flash hider simply threaded on, or is it pinned and welded? It has a fluted barrel which is 16" without the flash hider and about 17 3/4" with it. If it is pinned and welded I sure can't spot it. Thanks, Rickhttp://www.bushmaster.com/faqs/?f=2432Tue, 27 Apr 2010 00:00:00 GMTFAQ # 2422 : I have a Carbon 15 M4 I purchased new (223). The rifle came from the factory with a mini Y compensator muzzle brake. I tried to remove the mini Y and replace it with a regular M4A1 style birdcage flash suppressor. I observed as a military armorer assisted in removing the mini Y with an M4 / AR armorers wrench, and it was very difficult to remove. Once the mini Y was removed we observed that roughly the last 3/4" length of the barrel was unthreaded while there was about 1/2" of threaded length just behind the unthreaded portion. Further inspection of the mini Y revealed that the threading inside the compensator was completely ruined. It appeared that there had been no grease or lubricant applied to the threads prior to installing the mini Y. As a result the birdcage suppressor will not fit over the end of the barrel properly in order to thread it onto the barrel. My question is were these barrels supposed to be unthreaded, did I possibly strip all of the threading off of the barrel so that appears smooth, or was this ban era weapon produced in such a way that the mini Y was not meant to be removed? If indeed I ruined the end of my barrel is there anyway that I can have it repaired, or use a different birdcage style flash hider, or will I need to order a new barrel? Thanks for any advice you can offer.http://www.bushmaster.com/faqs/?f=1758Thu, 06 Aug 2009 00:00:00 GMTFAQ # 1745 : I just purchased an AR-15 in NY, MOD # XM15-E2S. It does not have a flash suppressor . The end of the barrel is not threaded, just recessed slightly as if it is ready to have a muzzle placed over it. My question is, should my AR-15 have come equipped with a flash suppressor or is it as it should be? Thanks for your help.http://www.bushmaster.com/faqs/?f=1745Thu, 30 Jul 2009 00:00:00 GMTFAQ # 1701 : About the 3-port Izzy flash hider/compensator, 1. does it come with the crush/peel washer needed for installation, or does it need to be purchased separately? 2. one of the PDF tech sheets mentions that the A2 birdcage flash hider adds 1.25" to the overall length of the barrel, but not the total length of the flash hider itself. 3. The opposite is true of the Izzy flash hider, which is said to be 2 3/16" overall, but not exactly how much length it adds the barrel? Thanks.http://www.bushmaster.com/faqs/?f=1701Wed, 08 Jul 2009 00:00:00 GMTFAQ # 1685 : Just bought a "Post Ban" Carbine. Wanted to know the difference between the Breaks and Supressors. Why does the end of the "Izzy" Break have a hole only a little larger than the caliber bullet while other Suppressors are wide open? What is the performance difference between the two? Also, why are they milled on the barrel and not screwed on? One other question, I found other front sights that have the bayonnet lug. Is it possible to replace the front sights that came with the barrel? Sorry one more, is the barrel on the post ban rifles heavy or light?http://www.bushmaster.com/faqs/?f=1685Tue, 30 Jun 2009 00:00:00 GMTFAQ # 1667 : what is the best muzzle brake for the XM15-E26 model without threads on the end of the barrel?http://www.bushmaster.com/faqs/?f=1667Sun, 21 Jun 2009 00:00:00 GMTFAQ # 1646 : I have a bushmaster XM15 M4 Carbine that has an 11.5 inch barrell with a 5.5 inch flash suppressor.
