In FAQ #23 it states that the barrel does not need to be cleaned until after 100-200 rounds. I have read articles that said barrel to be cleaned every 5 rounds up to 100, then every 10 rounds between 100 and 200 rounds, then every 25 rounds for next 200 rounds; then breakin is complete. I have a Bushmaster Dissapator AR-15 and would love to be able to skip all that cleaning! Just wanted to make sure I understood the FAQ correctly? I have only fired 10 rounds so far with two cleanings. Please comment. Thanks.
I just got my M4A3 from my gun dealer on the 1st of Oct. Shot off about 300 rounds today. Am going to clean it tomorrow. A friend told me to use carb cleaner to help with the carbon build up. This does not sound right to me. But this being my first AR and it looks like it is gonna be a bitch to get all the little groves and such. Or do I do it the old fashion way. I really do not want to do anything that will mess up my AR. Cause it is the most fun I have had in a long time shooting a rifle. You guys do put a hell of a weapon together. Thank you....
I cleaned the new M-4 type A3 after first use and was not able to pull the bore brush (brand new from an M16 cleaning kit) thru the bore. Even after moistening the barrel with a patch, the brush would go in about an inch and stop. I had to apply force to push it back out. Tried several times. Am I not pulling hard enough? (I am pulling very hard and am using the correct brush) Try a new brush? Something else? Also is it necessary to use the bore brush after every use?
I need a manual for the 6.8mm SPC rifle. Also would like to see a video of breakdown.
