FAQ ID # 2579 - I have a Remington R15. I understand that it is actually manufactured by Bushmaster. The barrel is stamped .223. I own a Bushmaster Varminter 24 inch upper and a Bushmaster Predator 20 inch upper. In comparing the uppers, side by side it is obvious that the R15 upper is made by Bushmaster. I have considerable experience with AR15 rifles and their ammunition and find it hard to believe that the R15, manufactured by Bushmaster would have a barrel that has a different leade that would restrict it from firing 5.56 ammunition. Can I fire 5.56 ammo in my R15 without problems?

Answer / Solution

Yes your rifle is safe to fire with 5.56 ammunition as well. We make all of our chambers, including the R15 chambers, safe to handle either ammo.
