| I have an XM15-E2S, pre ban with 11.5 " bbl. SNL140350. I recently bought it used from a dealer. I had a problem with repeated jamming due to failure to eject. The extractor would retain the fired case and pick up a new round from the magazine. For a fix, I replaced the bolt assembly with a new one from brownells. (Bushmaster mfg). I returned to the range and fire about 15-18 rounds and the problem started again, jamming every third or forth round. The rifle was hot, and I let it cool for a few minutes. It worked OK for 6-7 rounds then started jamming again. To me it seems to do it as the rifle heats up, but I am not positive of that since I only let it cool once and then didn"t retry it. My best guess is that the bolt/carrier is not going far enough to the rear to activate the ejector and then picking up the next round and jamming. It seems to be either caused by the heat or gas system. I was not trying to fire rapid fire, but more sustained fire in 3 shot groups. I'd appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks much,

Sometime extraction can be finicky on 11.5" barrels. A rubber o-ring on the extractor spring will usually solve this problem. If you would like us to send you one to install on the extractor spring please send me your mailing address and I will send one out for you to try. If it still malfunctions after that contact us again and we will get the upper in here for service to see what's going on. Thank you. |
